Ramadan Relief Package Expanded to 12.5 Billion RupeesIslamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has made the Ramadan relief package bigger! It used to be 7.5 billion rupees, but now it’s 12.5 billion rupees. That means more help for people during Ramadan.

The Prime Minister wants more people to get help from this package. So, he said that not only utility stores and the Benazir Income Support Program but also mobile units will give food items at lower prices.

Expanding Access to Affordable Food During Ramadan:

The plan is to reach as many people who need help as possible. There will be 1200 mobile points and 300 permanent centers set up to give out food at cheaper prices from the start of Ramadan till the end.

Not just at specific places, but trucks will also go around different areas to give cheap food to people who need it. They’ll use GPS technology to find the right places.

There’s also going to be a special video to help people use a mobile app. And, a digital dashboard is being made to keep an eye on how the mobile flour sales are going. They’ll check the flour supply and watch live footage to make sure everything is going smoothly.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif first announced this package on March 7, 2024, with a subsidy of 7.5 billion rupees. Thanks to this package, about 3.96 crore families will get food items at lower prices during Ramadan. They’ll get things like flour, rice, dal, ghee, sugar, syrup, and milk for less than what they usually cost in the market.

With this package, food items will be 30% cheaper than market prices. There will be a subsidy of 77 rupees per kg on flour and 70 rupees per kg on ghee.
